Health Advice #25- Eat your colors **food rules
Day 13-
Today was a good day. I got a lot accomplished today. I got a lot accomplished this weekend. Yesterday, I was able to catch up on a lot of much needed paperwork. I still have a ton to do- filing, tax stuff, getting ready for the new year stuff. Sometimes all that stuff weighs on your mind more than you realize. I will be happy when I finish my to-do list in my head.
Today, April and I worked on the pilates and yoga room. I have a wall that I needed to do something with. I had removed many decals and I had been playing around with ideas. I was leaving Kroger the other day and at their exit, on the back wall, they have a sort of zen like area. It had trees in pots but they were just sticks no leaves and they had them cover the entire wall. Intertwined in them were white lights. I just stood there thinking how awesome that would look on my wall! I sent the picture to April and that set it all in motion. She was ready to help me.
To make a long story short, it is beautiful! It is peaceful and zen like. I wish I could share a picture but my blog is not being cooperative in uploading pictures. Ugh!
Here are my stats for the day-
1. Read the daily proclamation day and night- done
2. Compliment
someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I complimented April for her creativity and resourcefulness. She really helped me pull this room together. She also loaned me some paintings that she had painted. They were beautiful and fit right in with the decor.
3. Stop eating BEFORE you are full. Follow the special body cleansing
program- I am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No
cooking on the stove or microwave. In the middle of working on the room today, I ran out to get some white lights and called an order into Mucho Mas (my fav rest) I told them I wanted a raw salad. Frank, the owner, kept wanting to cook my veggies to put on top of the salad. I told him I wanted them raw. When I came in to pick up the food, he said "don't you want it cooked." I explained to him that I can only have steamed foods and he said, "we can steam them!" WHAT WHAT?! I only needed to ask!!!! I even got some vegan cheese on it. It was divine! I love Mucho Mas!!
It's funny when I started this challenge, or even in the past when I have considered going vegan, people around me freak. They do not want me to do it. My daughter was trying to talk me out of it because if she was eating pizza, she wanted me eating pizza right next to her. I find it funny that this challenge affects the way I eat yet everyone else freaks. I think some people are uncomfortable around vegans because they are afraid we don't want to see them eat any meat. (ok secretly that would be great) I don't judge anyone for what they eat just as I ask them not to judge me. Oh another thing that always happens is people will say, "I know you don't eat meat but....." as they tell me the story of this great chicken recipe they made. You don't hear me say "I know you eat meat but...." as I describe this great vegan meal I made. People don't like different. It's ok. I don't mind.
4. Do not
get angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- No anger here...no cursing...no complaining....no gossip.
5. Give someone
something material each day. I bought April lunch and also gave her a gift certificate for Mucho Mas. She said she has never been there so I am excited to share it with her. She spent her entire day with me getting painting done and working on the yoga and pilates room. She has a little boy and I know it is a big deal to be away from him all day.
6. Pray and read scripture for your age in minutes
daily.- I pray for 11 minutes in the morning and 11 minutes at night. I also
listen to an audio bible for 11 minutes in the morning and 11 at night. Done
7. Drink half my weight in
ounces of water.- done I have to drink 72 ounces of water. Done.
8. If you are doing any of
these stop. Stop flirting, having affairs, committing fornication, looking at
pornography, or communicating with a person who is not your spouse. Nope
9. Wash my face before bed.
This isn't part of the challenge but I made it part. I need to get back into the
habit! Not done yet but will do in a few!

Health Advice #7- Avoid food products containing ingredients that a third grader cannot pronounce. * Food Rules
Tonight is going to be a quick post. I've been on the computer for the better part of the afternoon finishing up work.
1. Read the Daily proclamation aloud each morning and night. Done
2. Compliment someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I had to take Beanie (my puppy dog) to the vet today because he had a bump on the side of his face. He was bitten on accident in the eye by my other dog when they were playing. I took him to the vet last week due to that. I was worried this bump had to do with the eye. Turns out it is an infected salivary gland. I had to wait in the office for 90 minutes before being called into the back room. I love my vet. I have been to a lot of vets and I have never met one like him. He seems to truly be in it for the animals and not the $$. The vet tech came in and apologized for the wait. I told her how much I appreciate Dr. Reed. I can wait because I know he is in high demand. I was not rushing to go anywhere so it was no big deal. I planned on telling Dr Reed too but he came in and took Beanie out to drain the abscess and I didn't see him again. I will make a note to tell him next time and not just the vet tech.
3. Stop eating
BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body cleansing program- I
am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No cooking on the
stove or microwave. I made a smoothie today for breakfast...ate an apple after the vet....came home and ate a salad I had already prepared.....had a couple bananas and some trail mix this afternoon.
4. Do not get
angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- Work in progress every day.
5. Give someone something material each day. I bought the family a pizza for dinner. Weekends are hard because I am not around enough people like I am during the week.
6. Pray and read
scripture for your age in minutes daily.- I pray for 11 minutes in the morning
and 11 minutes at night. I also listen to an audio bible for 11 minutes in the

Health Advice #26 Fruit IS fast food.
I have been craving coffee the last couple of days something awful. I realized I have missed my hot lemon water the last few days. I am going to make sure to make that in the morning. I know that will help.
Here are yesterdays and todays stats.
1. Read the Daily Proclamation aloud each morning and night. done- Really trying to
slow down in the morning and read every word. Done It is becoming an easy habit.
2. Compliment
someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. On day 10 I saw my friend Kim whom I haven't seen in prolly 6 to 8 weeks. She had lost 22 pounds and she looked amazing. I was sure to tell her how fabulous she looked!
On day 11, I had dinner with my son and his fiance. During our dinner, I was thinking how
Brittany and my son Cory were the perfect match. She is perfect for him. After dinner, when I gave her a hug goodbye, I let her know that. They are getting married in June and I am very excited for them both!
3. Stop eating
BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body cleansing program- I
am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No cooking on the
stove or microwave. I did well both days with my eating. I took some pictures but am having problems downloading them to the blog since I got my new phone. Give me a few days to see if I can figure it out. I bought some trail mix yesterday that I ate more than I should. You know how it is, grab one handful then another and before you know it, you've eaten too much. Yep, I won't do that again. I will measure it out next time. We went to Texas Corral tonight and as soon as I walked in the door, my senses were assaulted by fresh bread. Ahhhh it smelled SO good. I am allowed peanuts so thank goodness for that. I kept my mouth and hands busy cracking peanuts open. I ordered a salad without the croutons and cheese and meat. The waitress brought me lettuce with onions on it. That was it. I asked for the tomatoes that were supposed to be on it. She did bring me some. It makes me sad to think that a family restaurant like that would only have lettuce, onions and tomatoes for a salad. No other vegetables. I don't understand that.
4. Do not get
angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- I am cold. It's cold in here. Are those complaints or statements. It's SO hard!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's not a complaint, that IS a statement :)
5. Give someone
something material each day.- I wasn't going to go into detail about the gifts
but I have changed my mind on that. Hey it's my blog, I can change my mind
anytime....so anyway....I want to show how easy it is to make someones day with
so little! On day 10, I ran into a gal- I did not know her- who obviously had a horrible cold. I have bought a bunch of little things that I plan on giving away but not really sure to who. I bought some cute boxes of Kleenex for this very occasion. I told her I noticed she wasn't feeling well and wanted to give her this box of Kleenex to help. She wasn't sure what to say and tried not to take them. She seemed embarrassed but I assured her I wanted to give them to her.
On day 11, I gave my friend Tammy a jazzercise sweatshirt. She is always doing her best to promote jazzercise and I notice and appreciate it. She even made her profile picture on fb, the jazzercise logo for a while. I appreciate all she does to help out me and my business. Love her.
6. Pray and read
scripture for your age in minutes daily.- I pray for 11 minutes in the morning
and 11 minutes at night. I also listen to an audio bible for 11 minutes in the
morning and 11 at night. I am in Exodus right now in the bible and some of it is so confusing. I pray that God can give me the wisdom to understand some of it. This too is becoming such a habit. I listen to the bible while I get ready in the morning and when I get ready for bed at night. First we make our habits, then it makes us.
7. Drink half my weight in
ounces of water.- done I have to drink 72 ounces of water. I'm sure I drank close to 100 ounces today. I was served a 32 ounce mason jar of water at dinner and I decided to make sure I drank the whole thing. I did, yay me!
8. If you are doing any of
these stop. Stop flirting, having affairs, committing fornication, looking at
pornography, or communicating with a person who is not your spouse. Nope
9. Wash my face before bed.
This isn't part of the challenge but I made it part. I need to get back into the
habit! Done and my I am in love with the way my skin feels. If you are not washing your face before bed, it is SO important. Nighttime is the time our skin regenerates. Our skin is exposed to so much during the day and needs a good cleanse at night. It's important to take care of the first thing we see when we look in the mirror!

Health
advice #35 Eat sweet foods as you find them in nature.First day with the new software went pretty well! My computer crashed in the middle of signing everyone up for the 9am class but luckily I was able to recover everything. I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to back it up because it doesn't want to save to a zip drive. I'm praying all the information doesn't get lost until I can figure it out.
There was a little resistance this morning with one of my class managers. I am hoping she understand how this is helping us all to save time and it will get easier once she understands it.
I feel like I have ADD. Not making fun but seriously, I cannot focus on any one thing for longer then 10 seconds. Do you ever have so much to do that you just don't know where to start so you nap instead?! I totally almost did that today! But I didn't- I kept trying to make it look like I actually did something. I got the important things done but desperately need to clean my office. Since things have changed in the structure of my business, all the things from the Pace Circuit room went into my office area....and it is a mess. I start on one thing then think, oh I need to do this or that. I can't get anything done. I will keep trying.
Here are my
stats for the day.
1. Read the Daily
Proclamation aloud each morning and night. done- Really trying to slow down in
the morning and read every word. Done
2. Compliment
someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I complimented Christine in my pilates class today. She was struggling to get a move and I stepped over to help her. She was able to knock out the exercise and feel successful doing it. I was very proud of her! I noticed that she is really slimming down. After class I made sure to let her know that I noticed her weight loss and her commitment to becoming a healthier person. She struggled with an illness that made her gain weight and is finally on a road of recovery. I am very excited and proud to be part of her journey.
3. Stop eating
BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body cleansing program- I
am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No cooking on the
stove or microwave. I didn't think I was going to be at work all day so I didn't bring a lunch. I thought I was going to leave for the early afternoon then head back in. With my ADD in full force, that didn't happen. My dad called and asked if I wanted lunch. I took him up on that offer and he picked me up Indiana Deli. I ordered a cobb salad, minus the meat, crouton, cheese and dressing (I know you are thinking what is left?!) A lot of veggies actually! I Heart Indiana Deli! I ate a banana and a pear for breakfast, my salad for lunch and snacked on an orange, a red pepper and strawberries all afternoon. I didn't get home til after 8pm so I decided not to eat since my stomach was not growling.
4. Do not get
angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- I had to bite my tongue a couple times today with the new software but I was a good girl. I have to be honest, this "not able to get angry, curse or complain or gossip" has got to be the hardest part of this challenge. Seriously, try to do all that for one day. Come on just give me one day! People think the eating part is the hardest but that is a cake walk next to this part!
5. Give someone
something material each day.- I wasn't going to go into detail about the gifts
but I have changed my mind on that. Hey it's my blog, I can change my mind
anytime....so anyway....I want to show how easy it is to make someones day with
so little! I gave my friend Dawn a notepad with a little note inside. She called me the other day about possibly quitting jazzercise. She is a busy working mother and doesn't have time to fit it all in. I totally get it! It is hard! We are busy from the time our feet hit the floor in the morning until we fall into bed. It's crazy. Giving up exercise seems to be the easiest solution for more time at home. I will be adding more classes which she thought would help her and she is going to hold off for a while and see how it works out. I'm so happy for her. I enjoy her being part of my family at jazz and it's not about the money. That's why I love what I do. Of course I need to pay the bills but it's the people I miss when they leave, not the money.
6. Pray and read
scripture for your age in minutes daily.- I pray for 11 minutes in the morning
and 11 minutes at night. I also listen to an audio bible for 11 minutes in the
morning and 11 at night. I have been praying in the car on the way to work. It takes me 13 minutes to get to work and I have to pray for 11 minutes so I get a couple extra in! Bonus! The funny thing is, I pray out loud. I think my four legged babies think I am talking to them and when other people see me talking they prolly think I'm crazy talking to myself. I enjoy talking to God out loud. It makes me feel that HE can hear me better. I know he can hear me just fine when I don't talk out loud, but it feels good to me. I did get all my minutes in today. Since I left work so late, I talked to HIM all the way home too!
7. Drink half my weight in
ounces of water.- done I have to drink 72 ounces of water. Done I was super thirsty today and I think I drank almost double what I had to.
8. If you are doing any of
these stop. Stop flirting, having affairs, committing fornication, looking at
pornography, or communicating with a person who is not your spouse. Nope
9. Wash my face before bed.
This isn't part of the challenge but I made it part. I need to get back into the
habit! Done My skin is LOVING this challenge. Between drinking all the water faithfully and washing my face every night, my complexion is becoming clearer. I might even look younger (I wish)

Health advice #101 Eat more foods that have one ingredient.
Today has been a loooooonnnng day. I am currently in the process using a new software for jazzercise which includes my clients using key tags. I am trying to understand it all and enter all my clients info in it as well. I really need a massage because I feel like I have knots in between my shoulders. (not complaining- just telling you about my day) It is a lot of data entry and a lot of staring at a computer screen. I know it will make things a lot easier in the long run -which is the wind beneath my wings =)
I'm a little worried about taking it in to my class managers and instructors I know it can be frustrating and I am hoping they all accept it with open arms! #guesswhatIprayedabouttoday
I'm going to cut my blog short tonight.
Here are my stats for the day.
1. Read the Daily Proclamation aloud each morning and night. done- Really trying to
slow down in the morning and read every word. Done
2. Compliment
someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I complimented the gas station employee today. I wasn't sure I was going to make it out today because I was stuck in front of the computer all day, but I had to go get my car at jazzercise. My dad and son did some work on it for me and my dad left it there. Thank goodness I had to go get it or I would have had to just run out to be able to finish my challenge. I told the gentleman at the gas station that I appreciate his working today on New Year because I was able to get gas. I told him I was very thankful for him. He thought- WEIRDO. I could see it in his eyes. note to self- stick to complimenting women (just kidding)
3. Stop eating
BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body cleansing program- I
am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No cooking on the
stove or microwave. I did good today on my eating. Ate a lot of fruits and veggies and had a veggie patty today.
4. Do not get
angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- Did not curse today but I did say a complaint, which I turned around into two positives! whew!
5. Give someone

Health advice #57- Don't get your fuel from the same place your car does. (taken from Food Rules by Michael Pollan)
As we close on another year, there is something I see more and more of and I am hoping this next year we can all work on it.
Self-Esteem. Self-hatred. Self-loathing.
There, I said it.
Why is it we are so loving and compassionate to others but so hateful to ourselves. Come on, you know what I'm talking about. Examples-
1. We overindulge then feel bloated and miserable and hate ourselves for not being able to stop- we know better but feel like we lack self control. We let this instance snowball into a week, a month, a year of instances because we feel we are weak. Self-Hatred
2. We cancel a get together because a) we are feeling fat and don't want our friend that we haven't seen for so long see us this way or b) we are so fat that we have nothing to wear. We put our sweats on and decide to stay home and gorge on ben and jerrys instead. Self-loathing
3. We look in magazines admiring the beautiful women in the advertisements on every other page. We wish we were as beautiful as them...as skinny....as happy..... We compare our worst qualities with their best qualities. There goes our self-esteem.
All those instances are examples of me. Yep at one time or another and more often than I would like to admit, that was me. I'm pretty sure some of you reading this can also see yourself in those words. We all do it. It has become socially acceptable to beat ourselves up. I would NEVER and let me repeat NEVER treat any of you in the same manor I treat myself sometimes.
I had a friend tell me she didn't think she was worthy of my friendship because she was overweight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT WHAT?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked to hear that! When I look at her, all I see is her beauty. She is so pretty and is always put together. She is kind and thoughtful and generous and an all around sweet person. Her weight didn't mean a thing to me. But to her, that was the only thing she saw.
Can you tell when I gain 5lbs? 10lbs? Maybe, maybe not, but I sure can feel every pound and I feel like when I walk into a room, my entire body is screaming, "look, look how much weight I have gained!" I have always hated my thighs. Just too jiggly, too thick and too much cellulite. I feel like my thighs define me. "Do you know J?!" "Oh yeah, you mean the girl with the red hair and big thighs?" Said no one EVER! My guess is that never happens but why do I allow it to happen in my mind?
There is not much I can do, it's genetics. My Mother was built the Same way and guess what? My daughter is too. She hates her thighs. I hate myself for allowing her to hear me be so hateful to my own body. What have I done?!
Someone told me once that I should not complain about my body because many woman wish they were my size. So does that mean I am not allowed my feelings? That hardly seems fair. I had a gal come to me once looking for a personal trainer. She was upset because of her belly pouch and wanted to get rid of it. She was all of 98 pounds and had a gorgeous body. She did not have a visible pouch but to her it was there. I had to recognize her feelings.
My low self esteem started as a young child. My Mother passed away when I was three and I had four brothers and my Dad to raise me. I had frizzy red hair, a string bean body, buck teeth and bad acne. Ahhh, the good ole days. We moved a lot or what seemed to be more than most people when I was young. I didn't make friends very easily because I was painfully shy. In grade school and middle school, I was made fun of not only because of my red hair but because I always stood by the underdog. I felt so sorry for the kids that were picked on because I knew how it felt. I never felt adequate and good enough. I was very skinny until I hit the age of 14. Hello puberty and hello hips. High school wasn't as bad as grade school and middle school but my shyness and quiet nature was misunderstood by many for being conceited. It's amazing how just those years can shape us into who we become. I am so thankful that I didn't have to grow up in this day and age. I know what I went through was nothing compared to what some go through now.
Honestly though, all of that is in the past and it is what it is. We all have a story, one that shapes and defines us. I'm not whining or complaining just sharing my story.
I kind of got off on a tangit here but the moral of my story is, be kind to not only others this year but to yourself. We are only human. We are allowed flaws, it's what makes us so special! We have so much to offer each other that does not involve the size of our thighs. We are wonderful beings that do not deserve to be picked apart by ourselves.
Happy New Year Friends.
Here are today's stats!
1. Read the Daily Proclamation aloud each
morning and night. done- Really trying to slow down in the morning and read
every word. Done
2.
Compliment someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I had my carpets cleaned in my house last week and in my business today. My friend owns the company and I complimented him on his good work and his awesome employees. He started his business from the ground up and he has done a wonderful job. Quality Carpet Care if you need some cleaning!!
3.
Stop eating BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body cleansing
program- I am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food. No
cooking on the stove or microwave. I did great on my eating today. I went to Enzo's for dinner and I had a salad. I absolutely lOVE their bread and olive oil but I did not indulge.
4.
Do not get angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- Did not curse or complain today. I have to say the hardest part of this challenge in not to gossip. It's not that I am going around talking about everyone but it's amazing how much in discussions, other people come up. I can't TALK about anyone. I have found myself starting to say stuff then stop and say "oh I can't gossip." Just try it. Rough.
5.
Give someone something material each day.- I wasn't going to go into detail
about the gifts but I have changed my mind on that. Hey it's my blog, I can
change my mind anytime....so anyway....I want to show how easy it is to make
someones day with so little! I went to the movies tonight and watched This is 40. It was hilarious!! I decided before I went to the show that I would pay for another couples tickets for my gift for the day. I gave the cashier $20 and said, I'd like to pay for the next couple behind me. She was so touched and got all teary eyed and was so flustered she couldn't finish my transaction or remember what movie I was paying for for myself. She was very sweet! She said she was a teacher and it touched her to see kindness. Before I made it into the movie, the couple came up to me thanking me for the random act of kindness. He said he paid it forward to the next person behind them. LOVE THAT!

We first make our habits, then our habits make us!
I have that on my laptop as my wallpaper. It is so very true. I am feeling really good about my challenge. It's becoming easier by the day. My cravings are gone as are my bloating and fatigue. Yay me!
Here are today's stats-
1. Read the Daily Proclamation aloud each morning
and night. done- Really trying to slow down in the morning and read every word.
Done
2.
Compliment someone each day and say nothing negative about anyone. I had to compliment two people today due to missing yesterday. I complimented a gal at Kroger tonight- she had an adorable purse! I then complimented a gal at the gas station. I told her it may seem like she has a thankless job but without her, we couldn't go anywhere. I told her how much I appreciate her! She seemed shocked I would say that. We need to say these things more!3.
Stop eating BEFORE you are full - no problem- Follow the special body
cleansing program- I am eating a vegan diet. I am only allowed to steam my food.
No cooking on the stove or microwave. Today I did well- I had a smoothie for breakfast. I just mix a bunch of fresh and frozen fruit with water- delicious!! For lunch, I steamed a veggie burger and veggies. I am allowed a veggie burger a day as long as it has less then 280mg sodium. I've been snacking on fruit and veggies all afternoon so I didn't officially eat anything for dinner. 4.
Do not get angry, curse or complain. Do not gossip about anyone- I did NOT curse today!! Yay!!!! 5.
Give someone something material each day.- I wasn't going to go into detail about the gifts but I have changed my mind on that. Hey it's my blog, I can change my mind anytime....so anyway....I want to show how easy it is to make someones day with so little! After I left Kroger tonight, I took a honey crisp apple to the gal at the gas station. I didn't know her and felt a little nervous before going in. I was afraid she would think I was some weirdo. (she prolly still did) I explained to her that I am doing a this challenge and I had something for her. She was the one I complimented in #2 also. I told her I used to work at a gas station and I know most of the time there is nothing healthy to eat there. I gave her the apple. She couldn't stop smiling! She kept telling me how sweet and thoughtful that was. She was outside doing the trash when I pulled up. I remember doing that in the freezing cold. It sucks! That's why I told her how much we appreciate her. Working at a gas station is a thankless job. Everyone gets mad at YOU because of the gas prices but guess what!? Everyone pays the same price! Gas station employees don't get cheaper gas. Just keep that in mind next time you grumble as you hand your money over to the clerk. I felt great after leaving! It made me think that I should give more people that I don't know gifts. I had to give two gifts today since I missed yesterday. I gave my step son's girlfriend a satin hands set from Mary Kay. She wasn't nearly as excited as the girl with the apple but I think I would dig the apple more too. It's all good.
6.
Pray and read scripture for your age in minutes daily.- I pray for 11 minutes in
the morning and 11 minutes at night. I also listen to an audio bible for 11
minutes in the morning and 11 at night. My battery was dead when I got in the car as I was leaving Kroger. I spend the time while I was waiting for a jump to listen to my audio bible. I still listened to it when I got ready for bed. I got a little extra in tonight, not because I had to but because I wanted to. Bonus!
7. Drink half
my weight in ounces of water.- done I have to drink 72 ounces of water.
